Hussain Al Moosawi

Many have lived in Abu Dhabi for years, but few have truly seen it the way Hussain Al Moosawi does. Through his lens, he reveals hidden details that often go unnoticed, transforming everyday scenes into moments of discovery and inviting both residents and visitors to rediscover the city from a fresh perspective.

For him, photography is not just about capturing buildings and streets. It is a tool for understanding, a way to document the city's evolving identity and preserve its essence through visual storytelling.

For photography lovers! Don't miss Omar Al Rizaiqi's journey, from childhood competitions to capturing Abu Dhabi's magic through his own lens.

From Engineering to Design to Photography

Photography was not part of his original career plan. He once believed he would become an engineer, but life led him toward media and graphic design instead. Seeking broader horizons, he pursued his studies abroad and worked in museums, where he developed a deeper appreciation for culture and history.

A Lens that Explores the City

At the start of his journey, Hussain was more drawn to photographing people than buildings. Over time, he began to notice the architectural details surrounding him, searching for patterns and symmetry that told their own stories. What began as curiosity turned into a documentary project.

Returning to Abu Dhabi, it took him two years before capturing his first image. He needed time to see his city differently, to reshape his perspective. Eventually, he found his unique approach, using photography to highlight architectural harmony, transforming buildings into geometric compositions that reflect the spirit of the city.

Turning the City Into Art

To Hussain, every structure has its own character, every angle its own expression, and every moment its perfect lighting. He waits for the precise second when architecture reveals itself in its purest form, where colors and shadows interact beautifully. In those fleeting moments, Abu Dhabi becomes more than a city. It becomes a carefully composed image, alive with its own identity

A Documentary Project

Hussain sees his work as a form of visual and scientific research rather than simple photography. His process involves collecting data, analyzing architectural patterns, and building a visual archive that can serve as a reference for architects, historians, and future generations. His goal is not personal recognition but the creation of a lasting visual record, a gift to the city itself.

A Photograph as A Gateway to Understanding

"I don’t just take photos. I try to understand," he often says. That understanding is what makes his work more than just aesthetically striking images. His photographs offer a glimpse into Abu Dhabi’s past, present, and the future it continues to shape.
